IPSA Travel Grants

Travel grant recipients were selected and notified prior to the Congress Postponement to 2021. The application for travel grants is closed and will not reopen for 2021.

Travel Grants

The purpose of these funds is to facilitate travel to the world congress by people who live and work in developing economies, who would otherwise not be able to afford it. Recipients must be presenters (authors) or co-presenters (co-authors) at the event and be listed in the program. Travel grant funds will be given to recipients ONSITE and not in advance of the congress.

The IPSA travel grant includes:

  • A grant of US$700 to US $1,000 depending on the geographic region*
  • Complimentary Registration to the World Congress
  • One year IPSA Membership (2020)

The application period for the IPSA Travel Grants was from 5 December 2019 to 5 February 2020. All travel grant applications must be completed online using the IPSA account, without exceptions.

Travel grants applicants were notified of results as of 27 February 2020. As the World Congress was postponed, travel grant recipients that were contacted on 27 February 2020 will be awarded a travel grant  for the World Congress in 2021.Due to limited funding, we will not have a new call for travel grant applications.

Criteria for application

Documents to provide with application

  • Proof of citizenship (identification page of passport) list of eligible countries
  • Proof of work or study (ie. student card, staff card, letter of employment with valid dates) in emerging/developing economies (list of eligible countries)
  • A resume or CV
  • A letter of reference (from a place of employment or educational institution)
    A recommendation letter is written by a previous employer, colleague, supervisor, teacher, or by someone else who can recommend an individual's work or academic performance. The goal of recommendation letters is to vouch for the skills, achievements, and aptitude of the person being recommended for the travel grant.

The application period was open from 5 December 2019 to 5  February 2020. All travel grant applications must be completed online using the IPSA account, without exceptions. Requests by e-mail will not be considered. Due to limited funding, we will not have a new call for travel grant applications.

Travel grants applicants were notified of results as of 27 February 2020. Travel grant recipients will be able to use their award for the World Congress in 2021.

 


Application Criteria and System of Evaluation

Qualification

Definition: qualified applicants are those who (1) live and work (or study) in emerging/developing economies and (2) have an active role in the Congress program.

Those meeting the deadline are those whose applications are received by 5 February 2020. Late applicants may be considered for grants at a later stage, should additional funding become available.

Points system

Grants will be awarded in accordance with a points system, whose features are as follows. All candidates are allocated points on the basis of their applications, to a maximum of 18. The minimum number of points is 2, in the case of qualified applicants. Points allocated to the main criteria are as follows:

  1. Geographical region - country of citizenship and country of work or study

        The list of eligible countries is based on the 2017 GDP per capita (current US$) from World Bank national accounts data, and OECD National Accounts data files.
